A mythological destination and place of tourist importance - 'Thangal Para' is primarily a Muslim pilgrimage centre, about 5 kilometre from the Vagamon town at Kolahalamedu in Idukki district. As per legends, a Sufi saint from Afghanistan, Husrath Sheikh Fariduddin Baba came to Kerala around 800 years ago and this rock is supposed to be his 'Dargah' or the final resting place.
